2005 was my year of transition. After 4+ years of initial counsellor training, I reached a point where I was qualified, experienced and confident to practice as a counsellor/therapist. I had spent almost half a decade training in both person- centred and psychodynamic therapies in the UK.
Since then I have worked as a therapist and clinical supervisor in education, private practice, employee assistance programmes and healthcare - spanning across the UK, Indonesia, China & Vietnam....being online takes me across the globe on a daily basis! I have supported the very young; those in between; and the greyer haired variety too. All with one thing in common - to seek & create change to enhance their lives. These days I work only with those aged 18 years+ and who are no longer in high school. I consider myself to be an integrative therapist; believing that there is no 'one hat fits all' approach to therapy. Be vulnerable and share your story so we can figure it out together; you do not need to take this path alone. I meet both individuals and couples. The dilemmas that have been presented are wide and varied. We are all individual and no matter how similar the initial issue may be that is presented to me, I find that there is never one magical fix that fits all; if only it were so simple! I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and attend regular supervision; a Certified Hypnotherapist, having trained with the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH); I have successfully completed the Hypnobirthing Works Teacher Training programme; and trained as an instructor to deliver Thomas Gordon's Parent Effectiveness Training. As a mum of two adult kids & a nonna to my beautiful granddaughter & grandson, I am aware of the wonderful... and also difficult times that accompany parenting and family life. I was fortunate to experience life as a third culture kid myself and am very familiar with expat life - from both a child and adult perspective. |
My learning never ends. Here are a few areas that I have attended additional training in:
